Riccardo Gori (born 1960)
Vase
Porcelain with crystalline glaze decoration
Artist's monogram to the reverse
Date of creation: 2000
H43 D14 cm
Tall and slender in form, this vase presents a vertical surface of crystalline glaze in which the crystals spread as if on a column. The technique, born in European manufactories at the end of the 19th century, from Sèvres to Copenhagen, relies on a glaze rich in zinc and a firing and cooling cycle of great precision; the slightest deviation alters the result. Each piece is therefore unique, its crystals forming freely in the vitreous mass. Riccardo Gori masters its subtleties on porcelain, whose whiteness enhances the reflections. A vase signed with his monogram.
